Please tell me how can Palin manage being the V.P. when she can't manage her own household? I was wondering why the older daughter was holding the baby with the blanket draped so very carefully over her her abdomen. The was a bad " cover-up" attempt from day one. WHAT ELSE IS BEING COVERED-UP!!!!!!Bobbagirl

Pretty sick, wrotten politics, has nothing to due with the mess theBush Cheney, Hoekstra policies that have nearly bankrupted this country. Pro- life should apply to all ages not just the unborn but our young people being sent to fight a illegal war that is none of the ununited sttes thanks to the texas mafia

The same way that Gore could when he ran for the top job after his son was arrested for DUI during his failed attempt to rule the world. Or as your candidate and his running mate said, "the kids are off limits", apparently you didn't get the memo.

Shame on you.

Check your mail, I think you'll find that the House of Representatives, Senate, and the United Nations voted to allow action to be taken to enforce the 17 UN resolutions and threats of WMD Sodam Insane convinced the world he had.

Your candidate now wants even those babies who are born to be left to die if he and you decide they aren't worth saving, you should try civilization, it's great. In civilized society we don't murder because we can. Apparently Clinton's attempt to "arrest" insane murderous thugs wasn't working enough to save 3000 american lives whose only crime was to work in tall buildings.

Jack--Bush, in order to get Congress to vote with him, may have told the "truth". But certainly not the "whole truth and nothing but the truth".

The daugther is not a candidate, and her life doesn't have to be out there for all the world to see. What happens to her is hers and her families business.  I don't find this funny at all. Leave the kid alone. There are other things in the world that needs to be reported on.

Posted By: Good Life  on Tuesday, September 02, 2008

I agree with Mike that families should be off limits.  We all have family issues.

What is interesting though is in general "fundamentalist? christians?" will fight tooth and toe nail against gay marriage that hurts no one, but will not say a thing about shack ups and bastard children that does hurt someone.  I guess sin is in the eye of the beholder and not in the harm that it does to the innocent.

family values, guess it depends on the family.....

Don't we hold our elected officials to a "higher" standard?

Posted By: AR  on Tuesday, September 02, 2008

I agree that families should be left out but then you have to consider, here is a VP Candidate that has views "that will greatly affect" other peoples families..hmmmmmm can I say that again. Palin has views "that will greatly affect" other peoples families. So with that being said how can you not look at her daughter's situation. How can you not look at her views and see that it literally backfired in her face and at one of the most historical moments of her life. Thanks McPain....you just sealed the election for Obama in so many ways it almost has me wondering if you are really a Democrat in disguise...hmmmm. Maybe I should give him a higher rating for just being overall stupid in his campaign actions.

After seeing this tasteless attack on a teenager, I'm appalled. The poor girl is guilty of two things; she used poor judgment, as teenagers are prone to do, and her mom was selected to run for vp. And when I read a few of the malicious posts steeped in unabashed hate, I had to marvel at how low some will go to trash someone they don't even know merely because they're of the opposing view! I thought elections were about candidates and issues, not about trashing innocent kids. Stick to the candidates!

Posted By: Critical Thinker  on Tuesday, September 02, 2008

Like Obama said, the personal lives of the children are off limits.

This girl's pregnancy is private and should not be viewed as a reflection of her upbringing, after all, a parent cannot control everything their children does.

And by this same logic, her son's military service is also not a reflection of his upbringing, after all, a parent cannot control everything their children does.

Posted By: CalvinistHobbesian  on Tuesday, September 02, 2008

This girl is a victim of not just the press, but her mother. Accepting the nomination was bound to bring unwanted attention to her daughter's situation; attention Governor Palin exacerbated by issuing a press release about it to take the heat (and rumors) off of herself. Yeah, the press should back off, but the press didn't drag her daughter onto that stage, she did.

The cartoon is spot on!  It's really easy for the sexually active adults to 'preach' abstinence, promote sexual ignorance and deny birth control to teenagers.  Most of the time it smacks of 'do as I say, not as I did' when I was a teenager.

To expect the raging hormones of puberty to be neutralized by a policy of 'Just say No' to the sexually uneducated is a true indication of the types of judgment calls we can expect from our potential 2nd in command.

Oh yes, let's all jump on Palin - she is so wrong....blah, blah, blah....

Yes, Di - we do hold our elected officials to a higher standard.  Palin meets that standard.  Faced with this difficulty, she steps up and supports her child in a pro-life action.  Hmm....what would Obama do?

As far as holding officials to standards - what happened with Bill Clinton?  Or is porking an intern one of the standards of the democratic party?

Posted By: Andrew in DSM  on Wednesday, September 03, 2008

This cartoon nails it right on the head!  Good job!  It is unfortunate this young girl gets pregnant, and I am glad she is keeping the baby and chose that as the path for her life. Normally this would not be at all newsworthy,  but because Governor Palin rallies for an Abstinence-only sex education and other flawed ideas on birth control and sex education - this now becomes an issue when her own daughter fails to heed the flawed ideologies of her mother's platform.   It completely discredits Gov. Palin on this 'Abstinence only" issue.   It's like Senator Craig from ID or disgraced evangelical Ted Haggard railing against the homosexucals and same-sex marriage - and then secretly soliciting sex in airport bathrooms and meeting gay hookers for drugs.   When you rail against a concept - and then have a personal failing in your own life that totally discredits what the flawed idea of what you preach -- the individual loses all creditibiilty and the hypocricy meter goes off and their 'private' demons become public domain and open to scrutiny.     A message to these pious hypocrites -- "you are better off just keeping your mouth shut!"   You can have as much gay sex as you want,  let your daughter have as many unplanned pregnancies as she can, snort as much cocaine as your nose can hold-- I Don't care! --    But when you have these things happen to you after you've publicly chastised those that choose to do this and you get busted in your own personal lie or personal inconsistency -- you NO longer get to any stage to spout off your flawed bile and pablum!  Your creditibility is GONE!!!

It's like a lot of the ideas, ideologies, and philosophies of the Republican party and Conservativism in general -- on paper it may seem plausible and palatable (in a world of lollipops, and rainbows, and cotton candy, and puppy dog tails)-- but in practice and in reality -- the ideas simply do not work!

I would challenge the "pro birth" Conservatives to go a step further and become "pro life" individuals and realize that from birth to death, life is worth living and need to be protected.   That means the baby, the pre schooler needing extra help, the 5th grader in inner-city schools.  The High schooler who needs some help for college, the young graduate who needs help finding a job.  THe single mom with two kids who needs help with housing, heating, or food, the old Veteran homeless on the street who needs a warm bed and a warm meal and a hot shower, and the old woman in the nursing home who needs a chance to die with dignity!

Thank you, and God Bless America

Andrew in DSM  - VERY WELL SAID!

Posted By: Cowgirl Up! - Texas  on Wednesday, September 03, 2008

Andrew:" but because Governor Palin rallies for an Abstinence-only sex education and other flawed ideas on birth control and sex education - this now becomes an issue when her own daughter fails to heed the flawed ideologies of her mother's platform.   It completely discredits Gov. Palin on this 'Abstinence only" issue."

Andrew - have you seen the stats on teen pregnancy in cases where sex ed and free birth control are offered?  They are actually somewhat higher than 'abstinence only' education.

Additionally, no one promotes making kids ignorant.  And anyone who advocates that 'abstinence only' kids don't know the facts about sex in an internet world are hopelessly ignorant.

The premise behind 'abstinence only' is that the parent has the right - and freedom to educate their children about sex in a manner consistent with the family morals and values.  In America, the state has no place usurping that right.

Abstinence works - when adhered to.  The drinking age works - when adhered to as well.  The fact remains that teens will disregard instruction - whether it be abstaining or actually USING the birth control - if they so choose.  Unless a parent chains the kid to their ankle; stopping teens from their own actions is nigh impossible.

Posted By: Jessi  on Thursday, September 04, 2008

I think this is a great cartoon. It's captured the hypocrisy of people who are pro "abstinence only [so-called] sex education" which denies people pertinent information about their reproductive/sexual health and increases the number of pregnant teenagers. By condemning expressions of sexuality outside of marriage, educators are in effect condemning and discouraging responsible expressions of sexuality - i.e., responsible sexual behaviors. Teenage pregnancy highly correlates to low educational achievement, which corresponds to poverty.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Off Limits! Show some respect.....just because you cant find anything wrong with her policy desent mean you should resort to bashing her family

Posted By: Critical Thinker  on Thursday, September 04, 2008

Asking Governor Palin's policy on preventing unwanted pregnancies is fair game.

Just don't expect her to answer about the effectiveness in her own family.

Posted By: Starbuck  on Thursday, September 04, 2008

Keep cheap shots of the candidates' kids out of it. Some believe that government should operate on the basis of personal anecdotes and attacks rather than from well reasoned principles of what is good for society. Bringing the 17 year old girl into the discussion proves nothing. Her mother promotes abstinence only, and the girl (being an independant moral agent) did not follow her mother's policy or personal advice. The only purpose that would be served is to promote a logic fallacy by trying to make a universal principle from mis-applying one isolated occurance; it is poor public policy, damaging to the individual involved, and degrades the tone of national political discourse.

Posted By: Sally  on Thursday, September 04, 2008

Cowgirl Up:

You wrote, "have you seen the stats on teen pregnancy in cases where sex ed and free birth control are offered?  They are actually somewhat higher than 'abstinence only' education."

Actually, you're wrong here, and I you'd be hard-pressed to find any data supporting your claim.  Numerous studies have repeatedly shown that abstinence-only programs do not decrease the risk of teen pregnancy compared to comprehensive sex education.  Here's the latest:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/04/13/AR2007041301003.html

"A long-awaited national study has concluded that abstinence-only sex education, a cornerstone of the Bush administration's social agenda, does not keep teenagers from having sex. Neither does it increase or decrease the likelihood that if they do have sex, they will use a condom."

This is why comprehensive sex education is important.

Starbuck: You wrote, "Her mother promotes abstinence only, and the girl (being an independant moral agent) did not follow her mother's policy or personal advice."

I think you're mistaken.  The issue here is not that Sarah Palin personally advocated abstinence-only moral behavior and her daughter chose not to agree with her mother's rules.  Most educators, including comprehensive sex-ed educators, will recommend abstinence as a policy to avoid pregnancy, so if it were simply about her daughter being disobedient, there wouldn't be an issue.

The problem is that Sarah Palin vouched for abstinence-only *education*, which involves not teaching students about birth control options in the hope that this form of education will reduce teen pregnancy rates.  This is not a moral issue or a personal moral recommendation she's made to her daughter; it's a policy decision she's applied to state teaching standards and affects every child in the school system, and affects overall teen pregnancy rates.  It goes far beyond her own family.

As a result, it's ironic and somewhat hypocritical that she could recommend a policy of abstinence-only education for other people's teenagers even when that same abstinence-only education resulted in her own daughter's pregnancy.  An abstinence-only education program, that Sarah Palin wants to implement everywhere, resulted in Bristol Palin being unaware of birth control options and ultimately becoming pregnant.  This is why people find Sarah Palin's support of abstinence-only education hypocritical.

Posted By: KnightMB  on Thursday, September 04, 2008

Wow, your cartoon hits a bulls eye. We all know that Bristol Palin doesn't want to be in the spotlight. I see nothing wrong with this cartoon because it represents truth. Sure, Sarah can't control everyone in her family and no one blames her daughter for getting pregnant. It just happens, we were all teenagers at one time.

The problem is, this is a perfect example of "do as I say, not as I do". Her own words are that the decision was made to keep the baby. That's great! The problem is, you can't campaign about Pro Life and then exercise Pro Choice when the issue comes to you and except everyone to turn the other way and not look.

Classical definition of a Hypocrite. No one thinks any less of Bristol because she is going to give birth to a wonderful baby, the focus is on her mom, Sarah who as the cartoon shows, doesn't practice what she preaches. Otherwise, there would have been no need to make a press release about "keeping the baby", it would have been "we look forward to the birth in X amount of months".

Can't have your cake and eat it too?

Posted By: Brantley White  on Thursday, September 04, 2008

One question.  Have you no decency?  Are you so selfish you would publish a cartoon like this just to pump up your ego?  Get a life outside cartoons.  You are not good at it.

Posted By: kim  on Thursday, September 04, 2008

Absolutely uncalled for!  Will we start to see cartoons about Palin's youngest son, who has Down Syndrome, or cartoons about Obama's children with all their braids?  Children are off limits.  Is the media incapable of covering the real issues?

Posted By: Nova yos Galan  on Friday, September 05, 2008

This is NOT about the daughter, but about Palin and the Republican party's sanctamony and hypocrism when it comes to issues.  They are the ones who say they are for "family values;" they are the ones who cozy up to the so-called Moral Majority.  Every Democrat is open to their moralizing.  But heaven forbid if you mention anything about a Republican politician's wayward children.  And what about that pregnancy?  Was Palin so busy at work that she (and her husband) failed to notice that her daughter was sleeping with her boyfriend.  She is currently 17 and 5 months pregnant.  Was she 16 when she got pregnant?  And what about the boyfriend?  Was he 18 or older when she got pregnant?  That "my friends" is called Statutory Rape!  But, as shown in Palin's political actions in the past, she can pick and choose to enforce laws as suits her needs.

Posted By: Mauimom  on Friday, September 05, 2008

What I find particularly ironic is that Sarah Palin & her ilk are the folks who want to stick their noses into everyone's business, pass laws that regulate everyone's sex lives and bodies [no contraception or abortion, now], but when we take a peek at how well their "theories" are working out in the "laboratory" of her own family, we're the ones chastized.

I knew they hated science, but this is ridiculous.

Posted By: Cindy M  on Friday, September 05, 2008

Just as some parents choose to teach abstinence, others support sex education, and others very openly offer contraceptives.  None of them are wrong -- every one of them can result in a child having an unwanted pregnancy.  And yet none of these parents DESERVE it because they provided bad parenting.  You do the best you can, and hope that things turn out okay.  Why is everyone so damn judgemental -- and it's NOT limited to the conservatives (see cartoon above).

Posted By: Mary  on Friday, September 05, 2008

Bad Judgement and NOT a political cartoon.   Just shows how little your imagination is to bring a child into the fray who is dealing with a tough time in her life.  Her parents are being parents by showing their love unconditionally.   As parents we NEVER know what challenges we face with our children as they grow.  But if good parents we don't turn our back on them. Apparently quite a few her have not had the parenting of finding your children doing something wrong or telling you they are gay, pregnant, etc.   You are a parent from birth until your own death.  Unconditional Love for Our Children.  I'll bet someone loves you like that and I hope they do.

Posted By: C. L. Lanners  on Friday, September 05, 2008

Bravo for the Cagle Cartoon.  While I believe that Palin's daughter should be left alone by the media, I believe the FACT that Sarah Palin has a daughter who is 5 months pregnant is relevant to the politics of the presidential election.  Sarah Palin supports a socially Conservative, "abstinence only" policy regarding sex education and birth control.  In this context, her own daughter becomes a living example of how poorly this policy works.  Teaching abstinence should be a part of sex education, but it is NOT a reasonable substitute for teaching facts about birth control.  When Sarah Palin supports a policy of educating people about birth control as well as abstinence then her daughter will not serve as a reminder of Conservatives' desire to control people's sexual behavior.

Teaching abstinence as a form of sex - ed is like teaching "don't drive" to prevent automoblie accidents. It's that lame.

Why make such a big deal out of it? This happens in the best of families all the time? Even celebrities have children out of wedlock. She is getting married to the father and was planning on that all along. For heavens sake, focus on the issues and leave the families alone. How would you like your family details in the news? Parents can't be with their kids constantly. Teaching them right from wrong is all we can do, the rest is up to them. Please AMERICA, let it go and focus on the big picture, our countries' needs.

Posted By: Mr. Mac  on Friday, September 05, 2008

I think that it takes a real low-life to cartoon the girl's situation. I don't agree with the abstinance-only idea, and I think that all other ways should be taught in the schools, the parents(too many)are not teaching their children. Many of these parents are parents or parents-parents that may have been from the hippy generation or one of the flower children. Their idea was "do what ever you want today and to hell with tomarrow". I'm not going to say whether I am for or against abortion, I am for women's rights. I also am against litters of kids instead of families.(3) Finally, and again, this was a real low-llife that drew this cartoon. (Don't they have T,V.s or other evening or night activities in Alaska???

Posted By: Heidi  on Friday, September 05, 2008

Please give this young girl a break.  If you have a problem with Gov. Palin, that's one thing.  But to further publicly humiliate the daughter is another altogether.  I shudder to think of a personal mistake spread out for all the world to see and judge.  Back home, we call an act like this (your cartoon subject matter) cowardly and bullyish.  My suggestion: pick on someone your own age.  Not someone who can't fight back.  Daryl, I will remember your name, and will never give your cartoons a second glance once I see it's your work.

Posted By: Shane  on Friday, September 05, 2008

Daryl, how do you know that Sarah Palin followed her mother's teachings? Maybe she rebelled, used birth control, and it failed. Seems to me you're making a big assumption here.

Would you go out of your way to accuse a parent who taught birth control of hypocrisy if her daughter ended up pregnant? Wouldn't that prove the ineffectiveness of that parent as well?

Think about it.

Posted By: geoff  on Saturday, September 06, 2008

Overall, isn't it kind of gruesome pulling your kid out on stage, saying: "hey, she's pregnant!" despite whatever she herself might be feeling, basically being called a slut on TV?

And yeah: families maybe should be off-limits, except... Palin was the one bringing them out into the limelight, making Trig's Down's syndrome an issue, too, so... can't have one without the other, can you?

So I guess if her daughter got pregnant while taking birth control this would be a non-issue.  She must be the only parent not to have a teenaged daughter listen to her.  I can not believe how the liberal press has jumped on this issue.  Let's hope Obama never brought his children to church.  They might have been exposed to the hate preaching Reverend Wright.

It is refreshing to see a cartoonist that is not afraid to take on the establishment and publish images of the corruptness that follows someone who stood up for their beliefs. It would have been so much better if she would have done as modern women do and aborted her baby and had her daughter abort her love child. To think that they would dare to show us that they are just regular people who have their own foibles. How disgusting. Don't they know that a woman cannot be a vice president if she has children? Especially if they are (?) a loving family that manage to get along even though they make mistakes. They should take note of other powerful women who did the respectful job of waiting until their husband got a job before trying to get one on their own. She should definitely be ashamed of herself for acting like she had the right to just have babies and a career. Doesn't she know she is to wait until given permission from Gloria Steinem before she does such a thing. I am with you. There needs to be more of this brought to light. Especially since she allowed her daughter to be onstage at the convention. No other presidential or vice presidential candidate has ever had their children on stage with them before and since they were shown to us they are fair game. We will show her she can't just have a career and babies without getting permission from the right people first.

The whole thing is trying to justify where morals start.  Is only abortion immoral?  That seems to be the theme of the "religious? right?"  As long as it isn't abortion then it's ok because it happens to all families.  As long as there isn't an abortion it makes no difference what actions brought on the problem.  As long as there isn't an abortion it doesn't matter if the father is around, if there is medical care, if there is food, clothing, shelter.  As long as there isn't an abortion it matters not what other actions are taken or not taken.  As long as there isn't an abortion it matters not the medical conditions of the mother or child.  According to the "religious? right?" the entire Bible speaks of only one sin.  The entire bible says nothing about taking care of the poor, sick, weak, downtrodden as long as there are no abortions.  It's ok for the "religious? right?" to withhold help and hope from mothers before, during and after a pregnancy as long as there is no abortion.  Any actions that lead to the pregnancy are obviously condoned as long as there is no abortion.  You can keep the money that God has given you, no need to help those that suffer, as long as there is no abortion.

You hypocrites.

Cagle's caricature of Palin's pregnant daughter is repugnant, as is Cagle himself.  Such far-left hate speech is just what MSNBC is all about.  I was delighted to see Chris Matthews and Keith Olberman pulled from further political coverage of the presidential election process.  Foryou far-left hate mongers out there who get off on MSNBC's cadre of left-wing loonies, keep up the sick work, since it helps to galvanize moderates and conservatives against your ugly brand of politics.

Mauimom: "What I find particularly ironic is that Sarah Palin & her ilk are the folks who want to stick their noses into everyone's business, pass laws that regulate everyone's sex lives and bodies [no contraception or abortion, now], but when we take a peek at how well their "theories" are working out in the "laboratory" of her own family, we're the ones chastized."

Brilliant.

MSNBC, Matthews and Olbermann are hate mongers?

And WHO speculated that Barack and Michelle Obama's congratulatory fist-pound was a "terrorist fist jab"?  And who, in talking about Illinois and the the Born Alive Infant Protection Acts, said "I mean, this is a child that is not bothering the woman anymore, is not going to make her depressed or affect her health. It's out of the woman's body. They tried to kill it, but somehow the baby made it out alive. Sometimes missing an arm, but alive. And Barack Obama wants the doctors, you know, chasing it through the delivery room to make sure it gets killed."  I'll tell you who, FOX news hosts and their guests.  So spare me the "ugly brand of politics".

Daryl Cagle, how low do you have to get to feel good about yourself?  There are far more important things in this world besides a teen having a baby.  I read where some said her pregnancy was a problem... To whom ?  I see alot of trash talk here, a cartoonist who is lower then whale crap, and others who think they have all the answers.  Well people, wake the hell up and smell the coffee.  This world is in big trouble, adding more nonsense to the list isn't helping. Oh wait, I know... Those who have all the answes, YOU run for office and fix the problem or get off your soap box and pipe down.  As for you, Daryl, Get a life, people like you who have to make fun of others to make oneself feel like a man, well sugar, you are far from it.

I do believe it is offensive for all the women in the Republican Party and all women in the US.  Is she the best, more prepared, more experienced, women in the US? Nothing against Journalist; however, is that all the requirements to run for VP in a country such as the US.  If that is the case them my wife also can run for VP.  She is been in more than ten countries; speak five languages, also “we can see Africa from our summer house is Spain”.  I got the opportunity to see an interview where she mention that we are in war following GOD wishes, Is she stupid or what?

Posted By: rabbut  on Sunday, September 14, 2008

Barack Obama was good enough to say that family should be off limits.  It is obvious to me, however, that republicans do not share his integrity.  They have taken every opportunity to slander Obama, and if Palin wants it off the plate, she should condemn all of the misleading and lying ads her ticket has run.  The hypocrisy is just beyond ridiculous.

Posted By: rabbut  on Sunday, September 14, 2008

McCain/Palin has used Palin's daughter as an excuse to not talk to the media.  I don't see condemnation of the daughter in this cartoon at all.  I do, however, see condemnation of the mother for telling the community abstinence education is the way to teach their children when it clearly doesn't work.  What happened to all of the republicans who I hear on the radio saying things like "If you're old enough to do the deed, then you are old enough to take responsibility."  Now they change their minds and decide that single mothers should be shielded from condemnation.  "She's only 17!"  But are they condemning mom and dad for letting her marry at such a young age?

Gee, tex, apparently you didn't know that we didn't start the war, and bombing Hiroshima saved an estimated 1,000,000 million American lives and approximantley 2 to 3 times that in Japanese lives. It was a horrible trade off, apparently you would have opted for 2-4 million people killed and perhaps not ending the war that had already killed 40-50 million, according to your "genius", OK.

By the way, we don't "kill civilians as a matter of target, it's apparently the side you favor that not only kill them as a matter of course, but uses them as human shields, our troops sadly get themselves killed trying not to hurt the civilians and protect them from the real bad guys. Saddam Hussein killed an estimated 1.1 million "citizens" of his, we freed 30 million people who now control 11 of 18 provinces and don't have the obligitory bulldozers filling in the dirt over the bodies that he had, and the "al cada" murderers you seem to rout for have killed 90% of the deaths in Iraq. Ignorance is bliss, wanna try the others?

Is your idea of intelligence the same as the "armadilla's" on the side of the road I used to see, with their head rolled up their ...?

Posted By: DLG  on Sunday, September 14, 2008

To Wilfred Silver: I hope your wife uses better english when writing messages than you do. If her english is bad like yours, maybe she can write in one of the other four languages that she knows and that way no one will know if she makes a mistake or not. Maybe the next time you go to your summer house in Spain, you will stay there and not return to the U.S.A. I don't think anyone would miss you at all. The Palin family is actually a typical American family and what a lot of families wish their's was like. I for one, envey them. All families have their problems that they have to deal with. The pregnancy of the daughter means nothing bad as long as her family continues to stand by her and love her just as GOD does. Abortion is never the answer. A life begins at the time of conception and to abort is murder. My wife and I had three children, one girl and two boys. They were brought up in church, they were taught right from wrong and were told or taught about the consequences that there could be. They also had sex education in school. Even after all of this, it still did not keep them from making mistakes. Our oldest son fathered a child when he was in high school. We did not know this until the grandchild was ten years old. We missed out on all of his childhood. After the other two children were graduated from high school they also had children out of wed lock, however they did marry their mates and are still happily married. We now have seven grandsons and one granddaughter. We could not be any happier about them. WWJD?

Posted By: Belinda  on Sunday, September 14, 2008

This cartoon is so distasteful.  I don't find it one bit funny.  Yes, this young girl is expecting, but I give her and her mother a great big round of applause.  She could have very easily chosen to end the pregnancy just as Palin herself could have knowing that she was expecting a baby that was Down Syndrome.  But they both chose to save the lives of their unborn children.  If it was a "cover up" as some of you have said, she would have chosen to really cover it up by terminating the pregnancy, but she DID NOT!!!

If you will pick up your bible and read it, God says that sleeping with the same sex is wrong, look in the old testament.  But do you read anywhere in the bible where he treats women who give birth out of wedlock the way he treated those who chose to perform homosexual acts?  NO!!!!

Posted By: Lamar  on Wednesday, September 17, 2008

Jorble, you are totally wrong when you say that no other Presidential or Vice-Presidental candidate has ever had their children on stage with them before. Go back and research this and you will find that a large number of previous candidates had their wives, children, brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers on stage with them during their campaigns and speeches. Probably almost every candidate. One family is Hillary, Bill and Chelsea in 2008 when Hillary conceded her nomination loss to Obama. Another time was when Bill accepted his nomination and then again his win as President. Jimmy Carter had his entire family on at different times also. Both Bushes too. Need I go on with more.....

"A MUST READ FOR THE TRUTH ABOUT MICHELLE OBAMA"

IS THIS WHAT IS NEEDED IN A FIRST LADY?

According to Snopes.com,  Princeton  was requested to put a 'restriction' on distribution

of any copies of the thesis of Michelle Obama (a/k/a/ Michelle laVaughn Robinson) saying

it could not be made available until November 5, 2008 but when it was published on a

political website they decided they would  lift the restriction.

                 http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/thesis.asp

Subj: Thesis - Michele Obama aka Michelle LaVaughn Robinson

OBAMA'S MILITANT RACISM REVEALED

In her senior thesis at Princeton , Michele Obama, the wife of Barack Obama

stated that America was a nation founded on 'crime and hatred'.

Moreover, she stated that whites in America were 'ineradicably racist'.   The

1985 thesis, titled 'Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community' was

written under her maiden name, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson.

Michelle Obama stated in her thesis that to 'Whites at Princeton , it often

seems as if, to them, she will always be Black first...' However, it was reported

by a fellow black classmate, 'If those 'Whites at Princeton ' really saw Michelle

as one who always would 'be Black first,' it seems that she gave them that

impression'.

Most alarming is Michele Obama's use of the terms 'separationist' and

'integrationist' when describing the views of black people.

Mrs. Obama clearly identifies herself with a 'separationist' view of race.

'By actually working with the Black lower class or within their communities as

a result of their ideologies, a separationist may better understand the desperation

of their situation and feel more hopeless about a resolution as opposed to an

integrationist who is ignorant to their plight.'

Obama writes that the path she chose by attending Princeton would likely lead to

her 'further integration and/or assimilation into a white cultural and social structure

that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full

participant.'

Michele Obama clearly has a chip on her shoulder.

Not only does she see separate black and white societies in America , but

she elevates black over white in her world.

Here is another passage that is uncomfortable and ominous in meaning:

'There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black

community, I am obligated to this community and will utilize

all of my present and future resources to benefit the black

community first and foremost.'

What is Michelle Obama planning to do with her future resources if she's first

lady that will elevate black over white in America ?

The following passage appears to be a call to arms for affirmative action

policies that could be the hallmark of an Obama administration.

'Predominately white universities like Princeton are socially and academically

designed to cater to the needs of the white students comprising the bulk of

their enrollments.'

The conclusion of her thesis is alarming.

Michelle Obama's poll of black alumni concludes that other black students

at Princeton do not share her obsession with blackness.  But rather than

celebrate, she is horrified that black alumni identify with our common

American culture more than they value the color of their skin.  'I hoped that

these findings would help me conclude that despite the high degree of

identification with whites as a result of the educational and occupational

path that black Princeton alumni follow, the alumni would still maintain a

certain level of identification with the black community.  However, these

findings do not support this possibility.'

Is it no wonder that most black alumni ignored her racist questionnaire?

Only 89 students responded out of 400 who were asked for input.

Michelle Obama does not look into a crowd of Obama supporters and see

Americans. She sees black people and white people eternally conflicted

with one another.

The thesis provides a trove of Mrs. Obama's thoughts and

world view seen through a race-based prism.  This is a very

divisive view for a potential first lady that would do untold

damage to race relations in this country in a Barack Obama

administration.

Michelle Obama's intellectually refined racism should give all

Americans pause for deep concern.

PS: We paid for her scholarship.

ED-I APPRECIATE YOUR USE OF THE CAPSLOCK KEY. TRULY, I WOULD NOT HAVE NOTICED OR FULLY UNDERSTOOD YOUR COMMENT WITHOUT IT. PLEASE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK--PEOPLE WILL NEVER PAY ATTENTION TO YOU IF YOU USE LOWERCASE LETTERS.

As for the cartoon, I thought it was great. As a young adult with fresh memories of the teenage years, I can tell you that abstinence education *never* works. Kids will take the opportunity to do the opposite of what you tell them to and enjoy it at the same time any day.

Not teaching sex ed and things like that will only lead to more abortions, more young mothers who can't go to college, and more broken families. It's not worth it.

Posted By: Art cohen  on Wednesday, September 17, 2008

Palin paraded her pregnant daughter and the putative father on the stage at the Republican Convention to enthusiastic applause nationwide.  Imagine the reactions if Obama's older daughter were pregnant and he brought to the stage and introduced a black teenager as the father.

Posted By: marsha  on Friday, October 10, 2008

Somehow bashing a kid who has become pregnant and is actually taking responsiblity for doing so, doesn't seem very kind or appropriate.  But---doesn't this speak well of Palin's feelings about freedom,  even within her own family.  Regardless of political stances on more pressing issues, hoorah to Palin and her family for handling their own crises and not asking the government to step in and force her daughter to have an abortion, take birth control, or support the kid.  Kudos to the Palins.  Shame on you for taking aim at a family member who is probably trying to do the best thing under the circumstances.  What's happening in your family?

Posted By: John K  on Thursday, October 02, 2008

Everyone wants to talk about Palins daughter but know one seems to care that Obama's top advisors are the ones that ran Fanny and Freddy into the ground and made millions doing it. Palins daughter got F***ed but Obama wants to F**k American. Which is worst?
