Of course he should keep an open mind about it. Maybe it'll take 18 months to withdraw, not 16.

Next time, hit Obama when he actually flip-flops, like on FISA. I hope you're smarter than the talking heads who recycle McCain's talking points about Obama's alleged flip-flop on Iraq. Even they figured out that insinuating that Obama flip-flopped on Iraq was so ridiculous that it wasn't increasing viewership, so they quit lying. I hope you figure this out too.

Lacking policies or accomplishments which find favor with the voters, Republicans turn to the dark side once again and their favorite tools, fear, false patriotism and calling your opponent a flipflopper.  And the media, including some cartoonists, need controversies, even nonexistent ones.  Obama didn't flipflop on withdrawal from Iraq.

The real story -- missed by everyone so far -- is how big the number of permanent troops is that Obama intends to leave behind.  The Bush-Rumsfeld number was 40,000.  McCain says 30,000.  Obama says all combat brigades will be out 16 months after he takes office, unless Al Qaeda comes back, in which case he will send in enough to deal with them -- but we will have no permanent bases in Iraq.  This sounds like the Murtha solution -- send troops somewhere nearby but out of Iraq.  They could be useful in Afghanistan, of course, and Pakistan.  So the number question ends up being meaningless when it comes to Obama.  The important thing is whether McCain or Obama intends to dominate Iraqi politics with a large garrison.  McCain yes, Obama no.

Hi,

I am a little confused and actually very irritated by this cartoon. You seem to be associating Democrats (left) with the terrorists. I am really sick of the media implying that Democrats are un-Patriotic. I and many others served our country in the military that are Democrats, in fact I would say we are in the majority (Military-Democrat. If this is your honest oppinion you are of course intitled to it. It is my oppinion that your kind, and the Whitehouse's kind of Patriotism is the cruelest joke (Not funny) that has ever been perpetrated on the American people. From 1956 to 1967 I did not have more important things to do and I there was no choice in my life of serving or not serving my country. Everything in today's America has been turned upside down by the Corporate Media. The man who risks his life and happiness is a terrorist and the coward who hides in the White House from service is a hero. God help us.

I thought Obama is a Muslin so instead of that metal helmet he shold wear wet towel wrapped around his empty skull.

Obama flipped on FISA and withdrawal from Iraq. So did a lot of other Democrats. It appears that Republicans try to make Bush's wishes happen and Democrats let Bush's wishes happen. We should have selected Kucinich - he was more in tune with America's needs than Barack or Hillary ever were. Obama has demonstrated he has no guts.
