Poll: Obama Faring Poorly Among Racists

Bigots Oppose Barack by 1,000-to-1 Margin

In a potentially ominous sign for the Democratic nominee, a new poll shows Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) trailing far behind GOP standard bearer Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) among voters who identify themselves as racists.

Pundits and pollsters alike have wondered about the role racists might play in the 2008 presidential contest, but the new survey released today was the first concrete attempt to take the pulse of this key voting bloc.

The poll, conducted by Duh Magazine, suggests that Mr. Obama faces an uphill battle in his effort to win the votes of dyed-in-the-wool bigots.

"We wanted to know, why isn't Barack Obama closing the deal among racists?" said Charles Plugh, editor-in-chief of Duh. "The answer seems to be because he's black."

In a head-to-head match-up, likely bigots chose Sen. McCain over Sen. Obama by a margin of 1,000 to 1, with a majority of racists saying they "strongly disagree" with Sen. Obama's decision not to be white.

Asked under what conditions they would conceivably vote for a black presidential candidate, 95 percent of racists responded, "Only if he were running against someone from a group I hated even more, such as Arabs."

Duh editor Plugh says the poll indicates that Sen. Obama "has his work cut out for him" if he is going to make up lost ground among racists.

"Sen. Obama made a choice at the beginning of this campaign to run as a black man," Mr. Plugh said. "He could change his position on that, but racists might see that as too little, too late."

Sarah Palin's approval ratings are fairly low in getting the support of citizens of Saudi Arabia, as well.

The Democrats have nothing to fear as long as voters in California do not have to show identification or citizenship.

In Olde New York, Tammany Hall had their people taking names off tombstones.  Somehow, those people voted.  If people don't have to prove who they are when voting, they can go from polling place to polling place and vote several times.  You have to believe that McCain won't do well in that scenario.

By the way, the column is cute, even though there may be a kernal of truth buried in it.

Back before the primary here in rural Missouri the whispers started.  People were ashamed to speak out loud but they would say in a quiet voice, "I just don't think I can vote for a n*****."  I even heard a man who is married to a minority make such a statement.  They usually preface it with something like, "We really need something different, I really want to vote against those that have been in Washington so long, but......"

There is no doubt in my mind that racism is a big part of Obama's problems.  Without his race he would be winning the swing states.

Andy

This wasn't one of your better "Jabs", need a little more info, is that white racists or black racists and did Duh only poll outside of Chicago? As I recall the LA Times said of him “Obama the 'Magic Negro' ”, or Time Mag asking, “Is Obama Black Enough?”, how about the comments made by Geraldine Ferrarro, Bill Clinton, or this running mate Jabberin’ Joe Biden are they voting for him?

I’m sure he’ll have all the votes of those “Americans” who think that “whites developed the AIDs virus to exterminate blacks", and those who think that we live in the “US KKK of A”, in all 57 of the 58 states BO’s been to.

Without his “race”, thinking Americans would still see the most liberal Senator and the 3rd most liberal Senator in the Senate, whose stand on issues like taxes to the left of Mad Maxine Waters and abortion stand to the left of Barbara Boxer. You might have just as well run Mondale on a ticket with Jerry Brown. Apparently you need to set up the excuse of why the Dems are going to loose.

John Handforth

The "second city", still does that, one of the reasons Daley the elder "delivered up" Illinois for JFK. Recent report on the "telly" about someone being caught using the names of two dearly departed. Now if it were a general election, it would have gone unmentioned, but Dem against Dem now way, gotta keep things fair(as long as no one has an R behind their name).

When blacks vote ten to one for the black candidate, that's racial pride.  When whites vote two to one for the white candidate, that's racism.

Or maybe a lot of us aren't fooled by Obama's empty rhetoric.

Instead of racism, your ball should be renamed experience. You were born to late to know the difference! If Obama should become president, lert's see how you feel about him November 09.
