What a loss to his family and to our country. He was truly a man for all seasons and will be sorely missed!

Jeeze! I know how the Media world is all broken up over Tim Russert and his sudden passing. Enough is enough. I don't Pope John Paul got as much coverage. Hey! Did you know several hundred people died in the middle east today - some of them were Americans! You guys live in your on little world up there!

Unfortunately, some people don't/won't recognize that the passing of civil discourse from modern mass communications technology is probably at least as threatening to the future of civilization as religious extremism with all its intolerance, ignorance and violence.

Great article. If only we could clone a Tim Russert as he was a man of integrity in all areas of his life. I hope other reporters/news commentators will sit up and take a lesson from Tim Russet's style.

Can you just imagine the story IF Rush Limbaugh and Tim Russert had died on the same day....What a MAJOR difference.... Everything said ( truthfully) about Russert is the opposite of the epitaph awaiting Limbaugh

BKelly and BWalker, it sounds as though you didn't even get the point of the article. Quit taking these opportunities to spout your partisan rhetoric. If you don't like all the coverage on Russert, then don't watch or listen to it. If you don't like Rush "El Rusho" Limbaugh, ditto!Leave it to you two to make such statements in poor taste in this forum.

Right on! He truly was a pro - one of a kind!

Certainly a well loved and respected Journalist. Rare these days in news organizations - who seem to have the need to promote whatever political leaning they have on there viewers. Lessons learned for all Americans. Be honest and get your ass to the gym! - later is a lost message.

It is so sad to loose Him right when we needed Him most. There will never be a worthy replacement but life must go on. Some people just don't understand the Quality of his work so they might not miss Him but most of us will.

Tim was a newsman, but also a true patriot. As we drove through our state on the day after he passed, we noticed most flags were at half mast. We did not know if this was in his honor, but it seemed very appropriate, for all that he has done to serve his fellow Americans through information, insight and knowledge.

I'm 65. Friday the 13th, at noon I got fired from job, told it was my last day, so I went to lunch at 1 PM feeling sorry for myself. This is the worst, I thought, and then came in after lunch signed in online again and saw on MSNBC news that Tim Russert had dropped dead on the job. As Shakespeare I believe it was said, "As long as we can say that this is the worst, it's not the worst." As for Tim, he remains the best.

This is a loss of immeasurable consequences. I'd like to see a Russert Award instituted to remember him, because he is worth remembering, and honoring the kind of journalism he practiced, because it is the only kind worth honoring. You said, "We can ask questions that have more to do with the direction of the country with the intent of hearing the answer and stop asking up front what party someone belongs to as some sort of sorting process."You used a very apt description--we too often have dueling pundits whose first real question is the challenge of gangbangers: "Where you from?" Then, the pundit can decide whether to shoot or not.

Sadly I did not know of him for he seems to be a rare individual with ideas and a type of agenda that is admirable by many in the world of news. I don't know if that's a good thing or not, yet he also seemed to better the american, check that - human - at home, helping them to obtain the information that mattered. That is an admirable thing to push for. Honestly you could take this article and take out the citizen "american" and put in human and spread it around the world. We are all human, we all have basic wants/needs; once we stop seeking the end of our brothers and sisters that don't agree, we can take a step toward the word "Progress".Peace

I, like many Americans, didn't know Tim personally but felt that I did because of watching him on TV. If there was anything political on TV I looked for Tim because I loved and valued his opinion. I knew I was going to get facts and not his version of the truth. There was no biased opinions. Just information so that the average American could make a choice.Tim got me more into politics and made me care more about what was going on around me in the political arena. THANKS TIM!!!!To his family I wish my best wishes in getting through this rough time.
